This was a special photo shoot.
Jamie and her fiancé met through a mobile app Coffee Meets Bagel in Los Angeles, where they live. Their first date took place at a café. so one of the places they wanted to take pictures at, was a nice cafeteria in Barcelona. The other place was Parc Guell. Their dream was to have a few photos with the view over Barcelona. They would later use this photo for their `save the date´ postcard.
We set up the date and scheduled the shoot for early morning, to avoid the usual crowds at Parc Guell. I woke up to the sound of rain, however I thought that, knowing Barcelona weather, it would stop very soon. It didn´t. I packed two umbrellas, my boyfriend´s large rain jacket (to put over my photo backpack) and a plastic bag to wrap up my camera in it. I was in a taxi on my way to the park, and it was pouring stronger and stronger. But I knew that there was no option of rescheduling the shoot, as they were leaving Barcelona the next day early morning…
I got there and I saw both of them waiting for me under the only roof available – in the bathroom! Thankfully they turned out to be the sweetest people I´ve had the chance to photograph. They said they didn´t mind the rain, so we proceeded to the entrance.
The shoot went smoothly despite the rain and me fighting with the plastic bag over my camera, holding an umbrella and trying to be as fast as possible so Jamie and don´t get too wet. They were so patient and adorable, I could just shoot them even in the middle of a snow storm!
After Parc Guell, we took a taxi to Mercat de la Boquería, the famous food market next to the touristy La Rambla. It was slowly getting packed, but we managed to get some nice shots of them trying the delicious food.
We ended the photo shoot at a café, as they wished.
The photos turned out to be beautiful, and most importantly, they were happy with the end result. As you can see, it is possible to do a great photo shoot even in a pouring rain!
Jamie’s feedback:
“Natalia was great! She not only helped us scout out our engagement shoot locations, but also was the sweetest most personable photographer we ever had. I wish she was our wedding photographer because she made us feel so comfortable and at the same time captured the candid moments. I can’t brag enough about her and am in love with her work!”
Below “Save the Date” postcard which Jamie sent to me. She’s so adorable!
